Clarkes of Queniborough Named GFC Shop of the Year 2024/25

We are excited to announce that we’ve been named Shop of the Year at the Great Food Club Awards 2024/25! Here’s what the Great Food Club had to say:

Clarkes of Queniborough, a beloved family-run butchery and deli, is proud to announce that it has been named Shop of the Year at the Great Food Club Awards 2024/25. Serving the local community since 1982, Clarkes has built a reputation for exceptional quality, service and innovation, making it a standout among village food shops in the region.

Founded and led by Ian Clarke, Clarkes of Queniborough started as a traditional butcher’s shop but has evolved into a full-service food destination. The shop offers an impressive selection of locally sourced meat, homemade pies, sausages and ready meals, all crafted with a commitment to quality.

“We’re honoured to receive this award,” said Ian Clarke. “Our goal has always been to provide our customers with the very best local produce and homemade items, and this recognition means so much to us and our team. We’re passionate about what we do, and we’re grateful to our loyal customers and local suppliers who support us every day.”

What Makes Clarkes of Queniborough stand out?

The secret to Clarkes’ success lies in their dedication to sourcing the finest local ingredients and maintaining a strong connection with local farms. On their butcher’s counter, you’ll find top-quality lamb, beef, pork, chicken and game, with their expert staff always available to offer advice on the perfect cuts.

Clarkes is also known for its award-winning products, such as their homemade Stilton and Caramelised Onion Chutney Pork Pie, which has earned accolades including a Great Taste Award and Best Speciality Pie at the Melton & Belvoir Agricultural Society awards. Their Pork & Stilton sausages have also gained recognition for their flavour and quality.

In addition to their butchery and deli, Clarkes has gained popularity for their innovative ready meals. Dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon and Chicken Tikka Masala are now stocked in farm shops and stores far beyond the local village, even reaching international markets.

“Our ready meals have allowed us to showcase the same quality and care we put into our fresh products in a convenient way,” Ian adds. “It’s been exciting to see the range grow and find new customers both locally and internationally.”

With a strong commitment to tradition, local sourcing and innovation, Clarkes of Queniborough continues to set the standard for village food shops. Their win as Shop of the Year reflects their dedication to excellence and their place at the heart of the local food community.
